BitZipper Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an archive?

How to create a new archive using the standard interface:

You must perform 4 to 5 simple steps:

  1. Click the New button on the toolbar, select New archive from the File menu or simply press [Ctrl+N]. This will display the New archive window.
  2. Select a folder to store the archive in by using the drive selector and folder tree, just as you select a folder in Windows Explorer.
  3. Enter the archive name in the "Save as:" input field. If this name contains drive and folder information, it will override the selections in the drive selector and folder tree. Do not yet enter the name of the files you wish to add to the archive, that is done later.
  4. Optionally check the Show Add dialog to immediately start adding files to the archive.
  5. Click the OK button.
This will display an empty archive on the main window and you are now ready to add files to it.

How to create a new archive using the Wizard interface:

You must perform 4 simple steps:

  1. Click the "Create new archive" checkbox and click Next.
  2. Enter the name of your new archive and/or browse your system for the destination folder, and click Next.
  3. Select the files to include in your archive either by pressing the Add button to browse your system for them, or by dragging files or folders from Windows Explorer and dropping them on the filelist. Then click Next.
  4. Click Close.
That's it, your archive has been created.

How to create an archive using Windows Explorer:

The BitZipper Windows Explorer integration gives you 4 new options to add files to archives. Access the new features by right-clicking a non-archive file or folder and select the BitZipper menu. The options are:

  1. "Add to...". Select this option to specify name and location of an archive to add the file to.
  2. "Add to x:\archivename.zip". Select this option to create a new archive with the same name as the file and add the files to it.
  3. "Add to x:\TEMP\untitled.zip". Select this option to add the files to an archive called untitled.zip in the Windows temporary folder.
  4. "Zip and e-mail". Select this option to create an archive with the same name as the file. Your default e-mail client is started, and the new archive is attached to the new message ready to be sent.
